Bengali Cultural Association · Barcelona
Welcome — we're so glad you're here.
Your cultural home in Barcelona. Come for the festivals, stay for the community — language, food, music, and friendship, all year round.
What is BCA?
The Bengali Cultural Association of India in Spain is a non-profit founded in 2022. We exist to preserve and share Bengali culture in Barcelona: the festivals, yes — but also the quieter things that make a place feel like home.
Think of us as a living-room for the diaspora: a place to sing, cook, argue about football, teach children a few lines of Bangla, and meet neighbours who understand why mustard oil matters.
People first — gatherings that feel personal, not performative.
Language, arts, food, and ritual kept alive with care.
Open doors for Bengalis, friends, and curious neighbours in Spain alike.

— শারদীয়া, a poem by a BCA member
For generations, Bengal has turned autumn into devotion. In 2022, a handful of friends brought that devotion to Barcelona. This is where it lives now — not for five days a year, but all year round.
More than five days in October
The Bengali Cultural Association of India in Spain is a registered non-profit founded in 2022, dedicated to keeping Bengali culture alive in Barcelona in every season — the harvest festival is simply where the drum is loudest.
Bengali New Year — a fresh calendar, a shared table, and the same songs Bengalis have opened the year with for generations.
A tribute to Rabindranath Tagore, the poet whose songs became the national anthems of two countries — and still open every Bengali gathering.

Fish, rice and mishti, shared the way they've always been shared — Bengali cooking as its own quiet form of storytelling.
Our idol is hand-built in Kolkata's centuries-old potters' quarter and shipped to Barcelona — one family's skill, passed to the next, a season at a time.
About BCAThank you for joining us to celebrate the anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore with an evening of music, dance, and poetry — Saturday 9 May 2026, at Teatro Calabria.

Bengal ⟷ Spain
Barcelona is our home in Spain — a city of poets, festivals, and neighbours from everywhere. Bengali and Spanish cultures both love their language, their table, and their seasons of celebration — an ocean apart, and closer than they look.
Water lets go
Durga Puja ends with visarjan: the goddess is carried to the water and released, so devotion can return again next year.
Fire lets go
The Revetlla de Sant Joan ends with bonfires on the shortest night — communities across Spain greet summer with light, music, and shared celebration.
Built by hand, together
Every idol from Kumartuli is shaped by hands trained since childhood — one family teaching the next, a season at a time.
Raised together, season after season
From neighbourhood fiestas to city-wide celebrations, Spanish traditions often bring generations together — cooking, building, and celebrating side by side.
BCA is where Bengal meets Spain — two cultures of poets, festivals, and food, learning each other's names for the same thing: home, kept alive by ritual.
An open invitation
Whether you grew up with Rabindrasangeet in the next room, or you are discovering Bengal for the first time, BCA is a place to belong — briefly for an evening, or for years.
