You will get a confirmation email. Tickets follow after we verify the payment.
If entry is free, why are you asking for donations?
Let’s be direct: entry is free, but putting together a major cultural festival in Barcelona is expensive.
This is not only for our community. Durga Puja here is a cross-community, cross-country celebration of core culture — Bengali tradition shared through multicultural activities that anyone in the city can walk into. Barcelona is multicultural, and promoting multicultural activities is always welcome.
Securing the venue, covering transport and handling for authentic materials, logistics, permits, and equipment require heavy operational spending. As a non-profit association, we rely entirely on voluntary donations and chanda to cover these costs. If visitors enjoy the experience without contributing, the math simply does not work. Your donations are what keep this multicultural celebration running abroad.
What do my contributions actually fund?
Your money goes straight into operational survival in Barcelona. You can choose to support specific micro-sponsorships to see your direct impact:
- Infrastructure: Fund venue setup, lighting, and audio equipment.
- Art & Tradition: Contribute directly to ceremonial and logistical expenses.
- Community: Support the ingredients and logistics for community meals, and the multicultural activities that bring people together across communities and countries.
How do I make a contribution?
You can give at the designated donation desk inside the venue or register your contribution directly through our website. Give what you can, but give with intent — support the ecosystem that makes this cross-community, cross-country week of multicultural activities possible in Barcelona so it continues to thrive.
Durga Puja
What is Durga Puja?
It is Bengal’s autumn homecoming: Durga as a daughter returning to her parents for five loud, well-fed days — and as the ten-armed goddess who defeats the demon Mahishasura.
In public it is core culture: art, food, music, and multicultural activities anyone can walk into. The longer story lives on the Durga Puja 2026 page.
Is it only a religious festival?
No. It is as much core culture as ritual. In Kolkata it is built in public: pandals, lighting, food, and neighbourhood art that anyone can walk through, regardless of faith.
That is how we hold it in Barcelona too — a multicultural city where cross-community, cross-country celebration and multicultural activities are part of civic life.
UNESCO Inscribed “Durga Puja in Kolkata” in December 2021. ich.unesco.org
Ajuntament de Barcelona The Office of Religious Affairs explains Durga Puja on the city site (article from October 2024). That piece is about the festival in Barcelona; it does not list BCA’s 2026 dates or venue. ajuntament.barcelona.cat
What will I see at the event?
The Durga idol (hand-built in Kumartuli, Kolkata), pandal decorations, puja ceremonies, an Indian food stall, multicultural performances, dhunuchi dance, and sindur khela on Vijaya Dashami.
- 10 Oct — Mahalaya (invocation; before the five days)
